Meet Gord

Meet Gord Delamont, the owner of Delamont Jewellers, certified gemologist and senior goldsmith within the company. Following in his father’s footsteps, Gord studied the Swiss method of watchmaking and graduated from George Brown College in Toronto. He is passionate about repairing and restoring watches and fine jewellery, as well as working with expertise and pride of craftsmanship in both gold and silver. Gord is also passionate about continuing to learn and grow in his craft and enjoys challenging himself with regular courses in goldsmithing while also writing his annual gemmology exams to qualify for recertification.

When asked about his favourite aspect of his work Gord replied,

“I really love being involved in the happiest moment in a couple's lives. It never loses its magic - their excitement, being in love and happy. It’s exciting to be a part of it, everyone in here can feel it. It’s one of the best parts of working in this business.”

Meet Doug

Meet artist and goldsmith, Doug Delamont. If you’ve designed a custom piece of jewellery at Delamont’s over the past decade, you’ve undoubtedly seen your design hand-sketched by Doug, accompanying your design notes. His creativity and artistic expression are applied in everything his hands touch, from restorations, custom designs, to his own jewellery line that is available at Delamont Jewellers.

Doug is proud to be a third-generation Delamont working in this profession. In his childhood and teen years, he loved to make wire-wrapped rings and polymer clay charms for friends and family and was soon under the nurturing guidance of his uncle, Gord.

Since graduating from the Alberta University of the Arts, and now, with over ten years in the family business, Doug describes some of the most rewarding parts of this legacy and his work, saying,

“Sometimes I get to hear people talk about how they had purchased their original engagement ring with my grandparents, who had first opened the store in 1947. My grandfather has long since passed away, and my grandmother had passed just before I was born so these types of stories always mean so much to me. I’m so very thankful to all the great family friends and customers who have taken some time to share their memories.”

Meet Jenna

Meet Jenna, the passionate fine detail master, who’s path to goldsmithing was sparked in a high school art class and honed at the Alberta University of the Arts. Jenna is most passionate about fixing broken jewellery pieces and bringing life back to sentimental pieces. If there’s a piece in your jewellery box that you feel is broken beyond any hope, you just need Jenna and her capable hands.
